Balaclava
Knit-along
Join us for this KAL and learn how to knit this beautiful balaclava. It features a roll edge on the hood and neck opening, and shaping throughout.
This is a project of beginner level, but basic understanding and practice of machine knitting is required.
Date: January 12th - February 8th, 2025

Shaping with short rows and various increasing and decreasing techniques.
Rehanging waste yarn
Rehanging for trim
What you will Need:
A fully functioning knitting machine.
Basic machine accessories – weights, combs, transfer tools, etc.
Ribber attachment is optional.
Week 1
Yarn & Tension Swatches
We’ll start with an introduction to the pattern, then make a tension swatch using a yarn of your choice for jersey (stocking stitch/stockinette) to match the gauge of the pattern.
Week 2
Practice the techniques
Practice short rows and shaping techniques used in the pattern by making swatches. Always make your mistakes on the swatch before diving into making the whole project.
Week 3
kNitting the balaclava
Follow the pattern instructions, and our video as guidance, plus the knowledge acquired from the previous chapters, to knit the balaclava.
Week 4
Assembly & Finish with Trim
Finish the project by connecting the panels together, either by linking or hand sewing, then rehang the piece back onto the machine to knit the roll-edge trim.
Additional Information
The KAL is limited to 40 spots, but there will be a wait list in case any-one drops out.
Participants will be granted access to the class and forum on January 5th PST.
Class includes the pattern, swatch templates, and video lessons of applicable techniques used in the design.
